Where Are Thou Romeo

It was a dark bitter winters night, as I shouted Romeo Romeo where are you Romeo. I was walking down the pavement on Queens Street in London , when I felt something was wrong then it stopped the sounds, the cars even the snow flakes in the sky had froze, then I realised that everyone had disappeared it was like time had stopped.

I looked up at Big Ben and found that the hands had froze, I looked at my watch froze I checked my phone froze it seemed that the hands of time had stopped. I didn't know what to do time had stopped and everyone had disappeared.

I looked around trying to find a sign of something someone anyone but it was no use, it turned out my first thoughts were right everyone really had disappeared.

I was alone waiting weeks for something to happen and then they appeared, the ones responsible for this terrible tragedy. I thought that they where the ones who had taken the human race and they had come back to get me but I wasn't going to let that happen then I realised that maybe if I could get the strange watch device on its wrist maybe I could find a way to get my family back and turn everything back to normal.

I quickly grabbed the alien thing and tackled it to the ground but when I touched the strange watch device I was instantly teleported to some kind of building site but everything was made of metal. Then I heard another one of those alien things coming towards me, I backed towards the wall and accidentally fell into a room.

I looked around for some kind of sign of where I was and then I saw a giant super computer unfortunately it was in an alien language so I couldn't understand but then a bright light turned on and a familiar voice whispered “quick follow me”. I asked who it was but the person just murmured “a friend”. Unfortunately the person was wearing a mask so I couldn't tell who it was but I knew it was human so I followed it.

We quickly ran down a very large corridor it looked like it knew where it was going because it had no hesitations on which way to go but as I looked out of a very large window I realised that we were no longer on Earth then the stranger pulled me into an empty room.

This was when I got a good look at the stranger and then I noticed that it was wearing a combat suit and had many weapons but the main one was some kind of laser strapped to its pants then suddenly one of those alien things entered the room and the stranger blasted it then the alien thing disintegrated and disappeared.

I asked the stranger what was happening the stranger explained that “the alien things had abducted everyone on Earth and that they were planning to use the human race to build a new alien planet and then when there finished with us that they where going to eliminate the human race and then Earth”.

I told the stranger that I needed to find my family and then it said look no further and removed its mask and then I realised IT WAS MY SON ROMEO. I asked him where his mother (Claire) and his sister (Jennifer) were. Then he led me to a room with over 1000 people in I guested this was the new home.

As soon as I caught sight of my wife and daughter I ran over to them hugging them and making sure they were OK when I had made sure they where fine I declared “we must get out of here before they eliminate us all”.

That was when my son explained his plan he explained that if we wanted to survive we would have to escape tomorrow because the alien planet was almost complete he then said that Claire and Jennifer could free people and teleport them home back to Earth while me,him and as many other people who would volunteer would distract and eliminate any of the alien things and then finally hit the self destruct button located at the control center right next to where the leader of the alien things lived.

We got straight to work planning are route, collecting supplies and having some target practice with the weapons. My son then informed everyone that the assault begins tomorrow. He then told me it was late and that I should get some rest. He showed me to a bed but there was no point I couldn't sleep just knowing the alien things plan. It made me sick.

In the morning (well at least I think it was morning) it began. Straight away we all geared up and got ready for the battle that lay ahead. We began sneaking through the ship but we got stopped as are original route had been blocked we took an alternitive route by jumping into an air duct.

We must have crawled around for at least 1 hour but eventually we jumped out into the control room where the leader was already waiting for us. We tried using the weapons but they had no effect but luckily I was able to distract the alien whilst my son hit the self destruct button. We all ran towards the telepoter but there was already aliens there so we blasted them and jumped into the telepoter just in time because then the ship exploded and the funny thing is that when we arrived home on Earth no one could remember any of it but I. I can.

Ouidditch Fouls

Rowling writes that there are 700 Quidditch fouls listed in the Department of Magical Games and Sports records, but most of these fouls are not open to the public, owing to the Department's supposed fear the wizards/witches who read the list of fouls "might get ideas". It is claimed that all 700 occurred during the very first Quidditch World Cup. Apparently, most are now impossible to commit as there is a ban on using wands against an opponent (imposed in 1538). The most common of those fouls which are described are enumerated below.

  • Blagging: No player may seize any part of an opponent's broom to slow or hinder the player (Draco Malfoy commits this foul in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, thus preventing Harry from seizing the Snitch).
  • Blatching: No player may fly with the intent to collide. (Substitute Slytherin seeker Harper breaks this rule when he collides into Harry after insulting the latter's friend, and Gryffindor Keeper, Ronald Weasley. This occurs in the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.)
  • Blurting: No player may lock broom handles with the intent to steer an opponent off course. (Often occurs whilst playing Slytherin)
  • Bumphing: Beaters must not hit Bludgers towards spectators (although Harry jokingly orders one of his Beaters to send one at Zacharias Smith in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), or the Keeper, unless the Quaffle is within the scoring area (in the first film, however, Marcus Flint, a Chaser, commits this foul with a Beater's bat, and Madam Hooch refuses to penalise him for it).
  • Cobbing: Players must not make excessive use of their elbows against opponents. (Marcus Flint, the Slytherin Chaser, commits this foul against the Gryffindor Chaser, Angelina Johnson, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).
  • Flacking: Keepers must not defend the posts from behind by punching Quaffles out of the hoops—goals must be defended from the front.
  • Haversacking: Chasers must not still be in contact with the Quaffle as it passes through a hoop (the Quaffle must be thrown through).
  • Quaffle-pocking: Chasers must not tamper with the Quaffle in any way.
  • Snitchnip: No player other than the Seeker may touch or catch the Golden Snitch.
  • Stooging: No more than one Chaser is allowed in the scoring area at any one time.

Canal Vauling

My Unusual Sport

Canal Vaulting

Canal Vaulting is like a normal vaulting sport but instead of vaulting over a pole it is vaulting over a canal.

They use a pole that is between 3 and 5 meters long which has a round flat plate stuck on the bottom which prevents the pole from sinking in to the mud in the canal.

The contestants have to run and jump onto the pole to try and vault to the other side of the canal.

There is a National Canal Vaulting Contest held every on the 22nd of August there is no prize except the Honour winning.

This is a video of the canal vaulting world record held by Jaco De Groot with a jump of 20.41 meters
